The Room Down Under

Most of the audio, video and lighting solutions we provide are for churches. That said, we’ve been brought in for the occasional studio, theatre, stadium, and coffee shop project, but the majority of our installs are for churches. And most of those solutions are for their sanctuaries, “gymnatoriums” (if allowed some creative license there), student centers, and the occasional dining hall. However, one solution in particular has earned quite a reputation and it’s not in the above list. It’s in a basement. The Journey Church’s Luminary Basement, to be exact. This bottom floor of The Luminary Center for the Arts is part of the Artist Community at the Journey and exists to “help revitalize the relationship between the church and artists and to be a resource for local artists who pursue their craft with excellence.” The Journey’s partner, the Luminary Center for the Arts, exists as a local service for the artistic community and is currently hosting a monthly event called the Elevator Music Series. This event will bring in regional and national touring acts to showcase and improve the St. Louis concert landscape. Stephene Russell of St. Louis Magazine, says this of the Luminary Basement, “…it’s far from the stereotypical church basement. With its sleek, polished floors and customized sound, lighting, and video systems, it’s probably one of the best concert venues in the city.”
When your desires are to strengthen relationships between the church and the local community of artists – and you not only accomplish that – but you also create a concert venue that’s gaining street cred around the nation? Now that’s a basement. Congrats to The Journey, the Luminary Center for the Arts and to all of those enjoying the space. Basements will always be welcome at CTS Audio.
CTS Audio welcomes Brooks Abbott to the team. A graduate of Belmont University, Brooks’s passion for audio began in his Raleigh, NC church at the age of 16, and has grown dramatically since he moved to Nashville in 2003. Brooks toured for over four years with Michael W. Smith and is currently in his second season as System Tech for Women of Faith. When Brooks isn’t on the road or in the shop, he enjoys spending time with friends and family and is considered a fantasy football fanatic.
