Maranatha Hall is
Northwestern College's
center for music and
entertainment throughout
the year. Maranatha sets
the stage for CCM music
artists, inspirational
speakers, as well as
NWC's very own variety
shows, choir & band
concerts and theatrical
productions.
The audio system had
become outdated and
insufficient for the myriad
of performances the hall
hosted. CTS Audio was
called in to re-design the
speakers, amplifiers and
control systems in this
multi-purpose
performance venue.

|
Not only did Maranatha Hall
have a wide range of
programs to host, but the
room also changes in size
depending on the program!
In order to cover the range
of the room and adapt to a
variety of uses, David
Myers, Director of
Installation, chose to fly two
JBL Vertec line arrays
supported by a monoblock
subwoofer hang. Additional
JBL PD Series provided
zoned delays for when the
room is fully opened up.
Crown CTS amplifiers and
BSS London processors
rounded out the system.
“This was an exciting build,
because we got to do some
new things technologically,”
David says. “The amplifiers
are networked and can be
individually monitored and
adjusted over the network.
The client can control
limiting, check heat loads,
keep an eye on the DSP’s
and even adjust the EQ.” |
The amplifier control is
integrated into the BSS
processing network,
providing a single control
source for monitoring the
system. CTS integrated a
PC tablet into the system,
allowing Sam Cook,
Maranatha Hall’s Tech
Director, to control the
audio system and provide
tuning adjustment from
anywhere in the hall.

Upon learning that CTS
Audio had flown a JBL
Vertec rig, visiting bands
were now more than
happy to use the house
system, saving on time
and labor while giving the
audience consistency in
audio performance. |
