I’ve been traveling more
and more this year and
while I enjoy seeing new
things and meeting new
friends (I like eating great
food also), there really
isn’t anything like being
home.
Home gives me a sense
of belonging. It gives a |
sense of community and
deeper relationships that
constant travel never
really allows. In an
industry that requires a lot
of travel, it’s no wonder
that we all still struggle
with developing real
friendships and deep
lasting relationships that
go further than the next
project or the end of the
tour.
Maintaining relationships
requires spending time
together. There’s no
substitute for it. Whether
it’s with my wife, my |
children, customers or old
friends, it still comes down
to slowing down and
actually being together.
The world has a way of
trying to make us all go
faster and always be more
efficient. Home, Community
and Friendship don’t really
work that way. I’m just
getting old enough to see it
and try to not be ruled by it.
Let’s resist the rush and find
our way home. Many
thanks,
